It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
